A Scientific Perspective for Reiki Healing

Explaining to scientific and logical people how Reiki healing works often causes problems for Reiki Healers and students. However this useful piece of information may help explain to cynics how Reiki and indeed all energy healing work and why.

Non - Polar Reiki Energy

Reiki is a non-polar energy which; upon contact with matter (human body, plants, animals, the planet) becomes polarized energy, bringing all contacts into balance. Reiki is an energy which cannot be seen, however appears to exist. Imagine a fast rotating object coming into contact with a slower rotating object, such as the gears in a car engine. The faster object serves to speed up the slower moving ones. Dense matter consists of slower moving (vibrating) bundles, the more fluid substances such as air and light, are made up of a higher vibrating energy. Reiki healing has very high vibration, so when the dense body experiences Reiki contact balance is restored.

Reiki is totally uncomplicated, and perfect for people who want a stress free learning experience. No tests or exams exist; Reiki training is based on observation and case studies, therefore learning is relaxed and paced to the individual. With no timescales or pressure to be ‘A’ class students, failure is non-existent as each person has something to offer. Confidence and self-esteem is boosted remarkably with Reiki healing. Reiki has become the perfect medium for the fast and frenetic world of the 21^st century and a miraculous state breaker for stress and anxiety.

The Medical Profession and Reiki Healing

Due to the pressure in medicine today, many doctors and nurses are using Reiki in their personal lives. The reason is simple, once trained this energy radiates and complements their clinical work. Imagine a doctor or nurse being able to increase their bedside manner because he or she is less stressed? The results would be amazing for the patients and families. The fact that many doctors and nurses bring Reiki into their life is usually because there is a personal need!

Symbols for Attunements Only

Spiritual healing had been accepted and welcomed in many National Health Service (NHS) hospitals in the UK since the 70s! The only objection for Reiki was the secrecy and the use of symbols, which were only necessary to the Reiki purists. Waving hands about over patients or clients was never part of the healing process, but for attunements only. No wonder logical, intelligent people thought Reiki was absurd and this natural healing energy became the brunt of jokes and ridicule in the medical profession and with many other people. But since the advent of excellent complementary associations who have worked hard to introduce guidelines into teaching and treating others, the doors are opening slowly.

Transparency in Reiki

Until the book Essential Reiki the symbols had never been revealed to anyone other than Reiki Degree 2 students. Reiki became a clandestine activity and was destined for the cult scene. The refusal of past masters to allow students to write the symbols in their notebooks had always created ambiguity, secrecy and fear around Reiki. While the purist continued to insist the symbols were written on rice paper (this is still practiced by some tutors even today) and eaten before leaving, the more open-minded tutors dropped this ritual in favour of transparency and education.

Secrecy and Retribution in Reiki

Up to this point anyone who dared to flout Reiki rules would be considered unsuitable students. Diane Stein experienced retribution from many so-called spiritual people because she showed the world the symbols in her book. This behaviour and attitude of Reiki purists made a total mockery of what healing was truly about. If nothing else, Diane Stein brought Reiki into the open and showed people how the symbols varied from one teacher to another. But more importantly Reiki was no longer considered harmful, merely an eccentric risk-free therapy. However something was clearly working and Reiki Healing soon became a wonderful adjunct to other life skills.

Why Reiki Healing Stops Working

Reiki may stop if the person decides to live a life devoid of integrity and self-worth. As proved with many students who decided the road to financial wealth was in areas that debased the human mind, body and spirit. When this happens Reiki simply stops working. Many tutors will bear witness to this happening with people who took a different path other than a spiritual and ethical journey. Sometimes students make a decision to halt their journey for a while. Some may never work with others, choosing just to use Reiki on themselves. Reiki is a discipline and gift to be honoured and implemented frequently because Reiki weakens or slows down if not used regularly.
