Reiki the Right Way
Reiki - Pronounced Ray-Kay Translates as ‘Universal Life.’
Like many ancient concepts, Reiki is thousands of years old. No controlled studies have ever been made to support the claims of Reiki Healing. However people who experience this therapy say, “Considerable heat comes from the therapist’s hands, and a deep sense of wellbeing lasts for days after treatment.” Meditation, yoga, qigong and other relaxation methods also seem to offer this sense of wellbeing when applied daily.
However in any healing whether clinical or complementary, once someone experiences healing whether touch, reassurance or confidence in the surgeon or doctor, attitudes change and the person tends to feel better. Whether this is a placebo or not, the general consensus is when anyone feels in control he or she tends to generally feel much better.
Reiki Appears Perfect for Trauma and Anxiety
Because of the giving and receiving Reiki becomes ideal for operations, anxiety and stress. Touch is vital in our lives and never more so than when feeling ill. Patients who have operations often note a sense of inner calmness before an operation and afterwards suffer far less trauma than expected when Reiki has been administered over a few weeks.
Reiki seems to satisfy even the most logical as well as the kinesthetic (feeling) person and appears to the perfect antidote to 21st century lifestyles, mainly because of the ease of application and self-administration. However to bring Reiki into mainstream complementary medicine, the secrecy and rituals drastically needed to change, yet still maintain the fundamental truth and essence of Reiki. Thankfully this is happening!
Reiki Spontaneous Attunements
Over the last ten years or so, tutors have noticed once a person genuinely indicates a desire to learn Reiki, enquires about Reiki, and goes as far as to book a course, Reiki started to work. Their hands tingled or became hot and recipients often commented on the calming energy he or she felt when touched. This phenomenon is often considered a spontaneous attunement and is as much as a surprise to the tutor, as well as the student.
When this spontaneous healing happens the energy is often raw and passionate. Spontaneous attunements can be extremely alarming, as the person has no idea how to control this energy. At this point training is needed to direct and balance the energy, or the person may well feel drained instead of refreshed and energetic. Usually most students cannot wait to start learning once they become aware of what’s happening.
Meditation, Prayer and Distant Healing
Like most spiritual avenues Reiki healing can also be sent over great distances, back in the past and through time into the future. In many respects distant or absent healing, whatever you choose to call this healing appears to be similar to prayer. Those people who pray regularly have always considered this medium to be powerful. Studies have demonstrated that praying collectively changes situations and people.
When collective activities like singing and praying brings people together for the common good, something changes inside us all. We tend to become more agreeable, our faith may be restored, love is often magnified and hope is increased. This powerful collective energy has the ability to change people, countries and situations, however the intent has to be from unconditional love. Ten seconds of sincere loving intent by one person is worth a ten thousand duty bound worshipers.
