Bigger changes happen with hypnotherapy

A ‘hypnotic trance state’ is a natural condition we all experience from time-to-time. Daydreaming is a good example. Another example is the replication of certain patterns of behaviour, listening to music, meditating, or repeating a mantra, which will all induce self - hypnosis. In fact anything that is constant and rhythmic will promote a trance state.

When a persons’ attention is focused on something outside their own reality even for a short period of time, a different state naturally occurs. Sylvia first used self-hypnosis when she had her second child, and experienced a natural pain free labour. Research has demonstrated that hypnosis is very helpful for pain and stressful conditions. Hypnosis seems to enable the brain to work more closely with the rest of the body, and acts as a natural anesthetic.

Sylvia is a natural storyteller and uses imagery, metaphors and stories in hypnotherapy (called indirect hypnosis) rather than direct hypnosis (focusing on a moving or still image). Hypnotherapy is a very effective tool for change. But some people are not suitable for hypnosis so other dynamic techniques may be used instead.
